Cobalt Lake Trail in Glacier National Park

SUMMER ROAD TRIP, DAY 20

An unforgettable hike through an area of beaver ponds, forests of wildflowers, mystical waterfalls and even a jaunt over a suspension bridge all leading to a stunning lake in the midst of shedding the last remnants of winter.

Day 20 Cobalt Lake Trail

Cobalt Lake Trail

We got off the beaten path today and hiked a less popular trail at the Two Medicine area on the southeast side of Glacier National Park. Cobalt Lake Trail is 11.4 miles roundtrip, 1,450 feet elevation gain and is considered moderately strenuous.

After the hike, we took the southern outer road outside of the park back to the west side of the Going-to-the-Sun Road and drove through again. We saw that the Red Tour buses went this route so we wanted to check it out as well. It is nothing compared to the main road so skip it if you come visit, it’s not worth your time.

Wow, a hike of over 11 miles in the mountains. That’s quite a distance for sure! And you didn’t even mention that it was a hardship at all! You must be “fit as a fiddle” by now after your first 20 days exploring the national parks. Can’t wait to hear more as you continue your journey!

    Hi Dang
Such a pretty area. Stretching your legs on a nice long hike is good for the soul & the bode!

I wish hubby could do the hikes like this with me. He’s limited due to medical issues. My sis & a friend do hikes with me when we get to travel together & hubby will do 3-4 miles if it’s not strenuous.
Thanks for sharing the pics. I’m living vicariously for sure & enjoying!
